REEP Poetry Sketchbooks

At our school, we have initiated a REEP (now known as Eagle Time) class into our curriculum. The REEP program is designed to provide additional support in English for each student based on their abilities.

In the fourth quarter of last year, our theme for English support was poetry and my class we kept sketchbooks documenting our work all quarter long.

We started by reinforcing poetic devices and designed a page for each poetic device covered in class with an illustration. After we had laid out the ground work for the quarter, we began exploring different forms of poetry and experimented in our sketchbooks.

I am so proud of my students and how these all came out - I could probably posted each page from every single student's sketchbook. However, so as not to overload this post I made a few selections of some of my favorite pages from student's sketchbooks.

First we made a page to list out the Poetic Devices we were exploring in class.

Chúc Mừng Năm Mới

Chúc Mừng Năm Mới ! After a nice Tet holiday students are back in school and starting up some new projects in art class. 8th Grade students are just starting the first part of their drawing unit with their "Creative Value Scale" project.

This week students learned about different shading techniques and practiced pencil control to achieve different values. For the project they were challenged to create a composition which incorporates a 10 step value change within the drawing.

Once they finish their 10 values within the drawing it is up to them how they want to finish their artwork and they can use any materials they wish too. Here are some pictures of students working from this past week!
